GAIBANDHA: Miscreants chopped a Chhatra League leader to death in Sundarganj upazila of the district on Thursday evening.

The deceased was identified as Khalilur Rahman Mamun, son of one Angur Mia, hailed from Nijpara village of Ramjibon UP and president of Shah Makhdum Hall unit Chhatra League of Rajshahi University.

Witnesses said a group of seven to eight members attacked Mamun on his way to Domerhat Bazar and chopped him indiscriminately around 7:00pm, leaving him injured critically.

On the way to Rangpur Medical College Hospital, Mamun succumbed to his injuries.

Officer-in-Charge of Sundarganj Thana Kaiser Ali Khan confirmed the matter to banglanews.
