Madrasa student killed in city

DHAKA: A student of class-III was beaten to death by a Madrasa teacher in South Keraniganj of the district on Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Hira, 13, son of Shahinur, also a student of class-III of Keraniganj Jamia Islamia Arabia Akram Madrasa.

Sources said teacher of the Madrasa Maulana Abul Kalam Azad beat Hira for five minutes at a stretch at around 9:00am on the day for his negligence in studies.

On information, Hira’s parents rushed him to hospital where the duty doctor declared him dead.

Police, first, advised Hira’s father to inhume the body secretly, alleged victim’s father Shahinur.

Later, Keraniganj Thana Police filed a case against the Madrasa teacher as journalists learned the matter and asked them over the development of the killing.

Meanwhile, the killer teacher fled the scene.

Wishing anonymity, an Assistant Sub-Inspector of the thana confirmed the matter to banglanews.

The body was sent to Capital’s Sir Salimullah Medical College (SSMC) Hospital Morgue, he added.
