Infighting injures 10 of AL in Natore

NATORE: Internal fight over domination between two rival groups of ruling Awami League left at least 10 people injured, including a woman, on Monday at Halsa bazar in Sadar upazila.

Witnesses and police said the shopkeepers in the bazar closed around 100 shops as soon as the fight began between supporters of upazila AL president Osman Ali and Halsa union AL president Alam Sarkar.

Alam’s supporters equipped with lethal weapons attacked the house of Halsa Union Juba League general secretary Anisur Rahman, leaving ten people injured, including Anisur and his wife Jahera Begum. The attackers also vandalized the house.

The injured were admitted to Natore Sadar Hospital and other private hospitals.

Police rushed in to quell the situation.
