Female victim succumbs at SZMCH

JOYPURHAT: A women, who sustained bullet injury during Jamaat-Shibir clash with police in the district, died at Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital (SZMCH) early Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Razia Begum, 50, wife of Abu Salek, hailed from Dastapur village of Sadar upazila of the district.

Locals said that the victim was caught in the line of fire during a clash between Jamaat-Shibir men and law enforcers in Haltri area on December 15 while she was retuning home from bazaar, leaving her critically injured.

Later, she was rushed to Joypurhat Sadar Hospital and then shifted to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital.

She breathed her last in the hospital at around 12:30am after fighting with death for three days.

Earlier on Sunday, three people were killed and at least seven people received bullet injury in a clash between Chhatra Shibir and law enforcers in Haltri area under Sadar upazila of the district.

Later, Abdur Rahman, who was injured in the clash, succumbed to his injuries at private clinic of the capital on Monday night.
