Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen on Wednesday (October 11) said his country will always stand by Bangladesh during any crisis.
He made the remark during a ceremony to hand over 700 Dengue test kits to Enam Medical College Hospital on the outskirts of Dhaka.
First Secretary of China Embassy Li Jian, Lang Lang, Jing Chan, including Enamur Rahman, Minister of Disaster and Relief, Chief Executive Officer of Enam Medical College Hospital Anwarul Quader Nazim, and other hospital officials were present.
Chinese Ambassador said, “During a bilateral meeting between our president Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on 23 August, China decided to provide 3.5 million dollars to Bangladesh as financial aid to fight Dengue.”
“We have today given the first tranche of this support to the minister's organization. More support will come next week. I want to say again, China will always stand by Bangladesh in this critical situation. We are with Bangladesh.”
Yao Wen said, “We are friends. We were always there for each other. Whenever there is a crisis, China stands by Bangladesh.”
He said: "Some are very much aware of democracy, human rights and elections, but on the other hand, they impose sanctions and visa restrictions. However, China never did this. China has always supported the people of Bangladesh. China and Bangladesh are working to develop friendly relations. China has always cooperated in the health and economy of Bangladesh.
