Police arrested the bus driver linked to six passengers were killed in a road accident in Trishal, Mymensingh today (October 11).

The arrestee was identified as Obaidullah, 20, unlicensed and unfit vehicle Rabbi-Setu’s (Dhaka Metro-J-14-1004) driver. He is the son of Suryat Ali, a resident of Naopara village of Sakhua Union of Trishal Upazila.

The Trishal police arrested Obaidullah from Bagan area of the upazila around 7:30 in the evening.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Trishal police station Moin Uddin confirmed the matter to Banglanews at 8 pm.

Earlier, at least six people, including four readymade garment workers, were killed and 10 others injured after a bus hit another bus from behind at Trishal upazila in Mymensingh district around 7:30 am.

Five of the deceased were identified as Jesmin Akter, 30, Shimul Ahmed Joy, 28, Kamruzzaman Liton, 28, Bakhtiar Hossain Shohel, 35, and Altab Hossain, 60.  

However, seven of the 12 injured were taken to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital where two more succumbed to their injuries.
