Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested a youth allegedly over the gang-rape of a girl by tying her hands and feet on a boat in the Brahmaputra River at Phulchari in Gaibandha for 3 consecutive days.

The arrestee Roni Mia, 25, also the main suspect is the son of Abdul Majid Mia of Kanchipara (Rasulpur) village of the district’s upazila. 

Tipped off, RAB conducted a drive and arrested Roni on Saturday (October 14) noon.

A press release signed by Flight Lieutenant Mahmud Bashir Ahmed of RAB-13, Gaibandha Camp was issued in this regard.

According to press release, on April 12, afternoon the victim left her house without informing anybody. Meanwhile, Roni and his accomplices found the girl alone in Balasighat area, took her in a boat, tied her hands and feet and raped her from the evening of April 14 to the afternoon of April 16. Later they left the girl in the boat and fled. 

The victim's uncle filed a case at Phulchari police station in this regard, read release. 

However, the press release read that Roni confessed his crime, and the arrestee has been handed over to Phulchari police station.
