DHAKA: Law enforcers have been put on alert in the capital to maintain law and order on Sunday as opposition BNP-led 18-party alliance is observing nationwide 83-hour blockade.
From early morning, additional police, Rapid Action Battalion personnel were deployed at key points and important buildings of the city specially Nayapaltan, the central office of BNP.
Law enforcers were seen in alert position in capital’s Natunbazar, Badda, Rampura, Malibagh, Farmgate, Shahbagh, Mohammadpur, Dhanmondi, Dhaka University, Press club, Paltan Motijheel and Jatrabari areas.
Besides, amid blockade, buses and CNG-run auto rickshaws are seen plying through internal city roads as usual.
Paltan Thana Officer-in-Charge Golam Morshed told to banglanews that we have taken strict measures to avert subversive acts.
Shabagh Thana Officers-in-Charge Sirajul Islam told to banglanews that Police personnel have deployed to avoid untoward situation.
