DHAKA: A Dhaka court Tuesday placed some 43 people, including 37 foreign nationals, on remand in different terms in a case of their involvement in VoIP trading illegally.
Of them, some 42 were granted for two-day and another for one-day remand.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court Judge Rezaul Karim passed the remand order in the afternoon after Uttara West Thana Sub-Inspector Mamunur Rahman produced them before the court with seven-day remand plea.
On Sunday night, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) personnel detained 37 foreign nationals with huge amount of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) equipments.
All foreign citizens from different countries were arrested from capital’s Uttara around 9:15pm.
Amongst the detainees, 32 are Taiwan nationals, five Chinese and six Bangladeshis.
