AL leader chopped dead in Jessore

JESSORE: A Krishak League leader was hacked to death at Majhiali Notunhat Bazar of Monirampur upazila under the district on Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Shafi Kamal, 52, district Krishak League vice-president and Monirampur upazila Krishak League former president.

Local sources said Shafi along with some Awami League men were pasting election posters at Majhiali Notunhat Bazar around 2:30pm. At that time he locked into an altercation with local BNP men.

Later, BNP men along with activists of Jamaat attacked Shafi and hacked, leaving him dead on the spot.

The body was sent to Jessore Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Officer-in-Charge of Monirampur Thana Mir Rezaul Islam confirmed the matter to banglanews.
