DHAKA: Opposition BNP vice-chairman Shamser Mobin Chowdhury urged the government to cancel or postpone the January 5 election.
He came up with urge while addressing a discussion at a city hotel in Gulshan area on Saturday morning.
The BNP leader also said the government has to postpone election and find out way to hold a credible election through dialogue.
BNP, in three dialogues under supervision of United Nations stressed on postponement of January 5 election. The meetings were held on December 9. The poll schedule has to be postponed if Awami League desires, he added.
With Professor Rehman Sobhan in the chair, the discussion was organized by Center for Policy Dialogue (CPD) Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK), Sushasoner Jonno Nagorik (Sujan) and Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB).
