DHAKA: Awami League president Sheikh Hasina on Saturday announced her party’s goal as to reduce poverty in the country to 13 percent by 2021.
She came up with the announcement while unveiling party’s 48-page manifesto for the upcoming 10th parliamentary elections at 3:30pm at city’s Bangabandhu International Conference Centre.
Sheikh Hasina, while reading out the manifesto, said that the goal of AL was to provide people with socio-economic freedom and hunger and poverty-free and to keep the law and order situation under control along with non-communalism.
She also said that they would take steps to form national solidarity irrespective of party and dogma.
She added that they would continue the trial of war criminals and execute the verdicts along with ensuring the punishment for those who would try to impede the trial.
The Premier also said that they would take steps to increase the transparency in the governance of the state and upgrade the living standard along with keeping the price within the reach of people.
The manifesto was composed with 90 election pledges on 26 subjects including good governance, democratization and decentralization of power.
Awami League president said, “Peace, democracy, progress and growth are the core of our election manifesto.”
Former public administration advisor to the Prime Minister HT Imam, AL advisor committee member AMA Muhith, also finance minister of the polls-time interim government, presidium member of the party Nuh Ul Alam Lenin, agriculture and cooperation affairs secretary of AL Abdur Razzak, Saber Hossain Chowdhury MP and Dhaka University teacher economist Abul Barakat were among the composers’ of the manifesto.
