Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) unearthed an illegal arms manufacturing factory after conducting a drive for more than 16 hours in the hilly forest of Eidgarh in Ramu Upazila in Cox's Bazar.

Besides, RAB arrested four arms manufacturers along with weapons and manufacturing tools. 

The arrestees are - Zafar Alam, Lal Mia, Mainuddin and Shahab Uddin.

Commander of RAB-15 Battalion Lt. Col HM Sajjad Hossain confirmed the matter.

He said, Moniul Hauq, owner of the arm factory, and the main manufacturer fled the scene after sensing RAB’s presence.

Tipped off, the elite force traced the weapons factory in Chagirakata Tulatali Hills of Eidgar Union of Upazila on Wednesday (December 13) morning 5 am, the officer said.

Sajjad said during the operation, 10 different types of locally-made guns, 10 rifle bullets, 12 cartridges and a large amount of various types of weapons manufacturing equipment were recovered from the spot.

Preparations are underway to file a case against the detainees in Ramu police station, RAB official added.
