The police detained four people in Khulna on Wednesday (December 13) afternoon for their alleged involvement in selling biryani cooked with dog meat instead of mutton.
The arrestees were identified as Taj (16), Md Abu Sayed (37), Md Siam (16) and Prem Sardar (16).
Khalishpur police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Anwar Hossain confirmed the matter.
Police and locals people calimed that for a month some youths would collect dogs from different places in the area and take them to the abandoned building, which raised suspicion.
According to the investigation, this gang used to sell packets of biryani for Tk 30, Tk 40 and Tk 60 by miking in various areas including Khalishpur, Daulatpur area.
Besides, they used to sell this biryani in many hotel and restaurants.
Earlier, local residents saw the four with a dog; they informed the police on Wednesday.
Later, police detained three teenage boys in this connection. Besides, the man who cooked and sold biryani was held.
A slaughtered dog was found with its legs tied and the remains of several other dogs were found in the abandoned building.
