Total three passengers were killed when a pickup van hit a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw in Habiganj's Chunarughat upazila on Thursday (December 14).

The accident happened in Chanbhanga area of the upazila this afternoon.

The deceased were Tanim Mia, 17, a resident of Durgapur village of the upazila, Tamanna Akter, 25, of Ramshree village and Sufia Begum, 50, of Umednagar in Habiganj town.

According to locals, a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw with some passengers was going to Chunarughat from Shayestaganj. When the vehicle reached Chanbhanga area, a pickup van from the opposite direction ran over the auto-rickshaw. Three passengers died on the spot.

Sub-Inspector (SI) Chunarughat Police Station Alaul Haque confirmed the matter to Banglanews.

Police seized two cars and the bodies have been kept in the hospital, he said.
