The audition of “Quraner Noor”, a Koranic recitation contest, for the southern region of Dhaka was held at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in the capital on Thursday.

Over 800 hafizes took part in the daylong programme while 20 hafizes have been selected for the national round, according to organisers.

Baitul Mukarram National Mosque Musalli Committee is organising the mega event titled ‘Quraner Noor International Hifzul Quran Competition-2024’ which is powered by Bashundhara Group, the country’s leading business conglomerate.

Earlier in the morning, hundreds of contestants gathered at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque to register for the contest. After having breakfast, they were divided into five categories for the audition round.

The national-level champion will receive Tk10 lakh while the international champion will get Tk15 lakh.

The recorded programme will be aired on News24 and its YouTube channel from the first day of the holy month of Ramadan.
