Members of police arrested a salon employee for allegedly mugging in the capital on Thursday (December 14) night.

Md Sohag Hossain, 28, was arrested by police from Sonargaon crossing under Tejgaon police station. During arrest, a knife was also recovered from his possession.

According to police, Sohag used to commit mugging at night though he works at a salon during the day.

Tejgaon police station's OC Mohammad Mohsin confirmed the matter today (December 15).

He said Sohag is mainly a mugger. He has his own gang. They mainly target bus passengers. They create artificial crowd inside the bus. After that they escape with the passengers’ money bags and mobile phones. If someone tried to bar them, they attack people with knives. 

On Thursday, Sohag and his other group members were taking preparations to commit a dacoity. At that time, police went there. Witnessing the arrival of policemen, they tried to flee. Later, police arrested Sohag with a knife after chasing him, he said.

Action against Sohag and his members are underway, the official added.
