A local BNP leader, who was arrested on November 27 in a case filed over explosive act, died at Naogaon hospital on Wednesday (December 20).

The BNP man was identified as Matibul Islam, 60, an organiaing secretary of Najipur municipality unit BNP in Patnitala upazila of the district.

According to party sources, Matibul was arrested in a case filed under the Explosive Substances Act on November 27 and had been in jail since then.

Dr Tanjimul Haque, resident medical officer at the hospital confirmed the matter this morning.

The body will be handed over to his family after an autopsy, the official said.
