Two workers died inside a septic tank while cleaning it in Sreepur upazila of Gazipur on Wednesday (December 20).

The deceased were identified as Mokhles Mia, 48, of Netrakona and Masum Mia, 24, of Thakurgaon 

According to locals they died inhaling toxic gas accumulated inside the tank.

Sreepur Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Shakhawat Hossain, confirmed the matter.

He said the two workers got inside a septic tank at a house in Bormi area of Sreepur municipality this evening.

"We went to the spot and recovered their bodies around 6:50pm," he said.

The bodies would be sent to a hospital for autopsy, the official added.
