Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal on Saturday (December 23) said Election Commission (EC) will stop voting if there is any attempt of rigging.

CEC warned at a view-exchange meeting with the candidates of Barishal at the conference room of the district administration’s office this morning.

He said, “Returning officers cannot change vote results. Candidates can find results sitting to their houses. We are seeking help from the candidates, voters need to vote, others will vote that will not happen.” 

At the beginning of the meeting, CEC urged the candidates to come out of the belief that there must be irregularities in the polling field.

The CEC has also directed the concerned to strictly maintain the code of conduct.
