The Election Commission has instructed the Ministry of Public Administration to declare a public holiday on January 7 on the occasion of the national election.

A letter signed by Election Commission Deputy Secretary Md Atiar Rahman was sent to the ministry today (December 24). 

Besides, the commission has also sent copies of the letter to relevant government offices.

Ruling Awami League and its allies are gearing up to contest in the election, while the BNP and like-minded opposition parties boycotted it.
