A report by Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) said at least 2,360 fire incidents took place in the country in December last year, leaving eight people dead and 18 injured.
Of the incidents, 192 occurred in the capital, according to FSCD.
The statistics show that 604 fires broke out in Rangpur division, 571 in Dhaka, 445 in Rajshahi, 308 in Chattogram, 160 in Khulna, 97 in Barishal, 95 in Mymensingh, and 80 in Sylhet.
The number of fire incidents was on the rise in December compared to November, which witnessed 2,035 incidents.
According to the FSCD, the firefighters took part in rescue operations in 827 other incidents in December. The incidents, including road accidents, killed 100 people and injured 834 others.
