3 suspected cattle thieves lynched in Pabna 

Three suspected cattle thieves were beaten to death by the villagers in Pabna's Bhangura upazila on Saturday.

The incident took place at Betuan village under the upazila early in the morning.

The deceased could not be identified immediately.

According to locals and police, a gang of thieves stole two cows from one Golap Hossain's house at Ashtamanisha village of the upazila and escaped by a boat. Sensing the matter, local people including the owner of the cow chased the thieves. Not being able to catch, sent news to people and relatives in different areas. Meanwhile, when the people of Betuan village saw them, the group of thieves tried to escape by throwing away the cows. Later, the locals caught the three and beat them to death. Another one, however, managed to flee scene.

Bhangura Police Station officer-in-charge Nazmul Hossain said police recovered the bodies from the spot. 

Legal processes are underway to send the bodies to the morgue for autopsy, he added.
