DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday said students of Primary, Secondary and Madrasa would be provided notebooks along with books free in the future.
The premier came up with the announcement while inaugurating the book festival at Ganobhaban, the official residence of the PM, on the occasion of free textbook distribution among students in the morning.
The premier distributed free books to primary, secondary and and madrasa level students around 11:30am.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid was present in the inaugural ceremony.
She said: “We will give students notebook so that they can download books from the internet. We also will give them digital books.”
The Awami League president said, “The incumbent government has opened multimedia classrooms in schools and televised the classes of better schools. In future, we will telecast the classes on Sangsad TV along with BTV.”
Sheikh Hasina also told her audience: “We had a tension about the book distribution in due time but the Education Ministry made it possible tackling all disasters.”
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister thanked National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) for completion of their works due time.
The premier also said a vested quarter set fire to godown of the textbook that created an uncertainty over distribution of textbook on time. But printing of book had been completed due time. It was a big challenge and the government won the challenge by handing over books to students on January 1.
