Two killed in Barishal road crash

Two people were killed in a road accident at Agailjhara Upazila in Barishal district on Thursday (January 11).

The accident took place at around 10pm in front of Sub-Registry office in the upazila.

The deceased were identified as Mehedi Hawlader, son of Shaheen Hawlader, a resident of East Katira village under the upazila, and a van driver Abu Bakkar Siddique Babu Khan, 25, of Bandhabari area under Kotalipara upazila.

According to locals, Babu Khan was heading towards Kotalipara from the upazila on his van. On the way, when he reached in front of the sub-registry office, a motorbike carrying Mehedi Hawlader rammed into his van from the opposite direction, leaving Mehedi dead on the spot and two others critically injured.

The injured were taken to Aghailjhara upazila health complex where the on-duty doctor referred them to Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital. He succumbed to his injuries at the hospital while undergoing treatment, said locals

Aghailjhara Police Station sub-inspector Nur-e-Alam said confirmed the matter.

Legal actions were under process in this regard, added the officer.
