Security beefed up in capital

DHAKA: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) took additional security measures on Wednesday apprehending subversive activities as hatral and blockade, called by 18-party alliance, are underway.

Additional law enforcers were seen patrolling in capital’s Nayapaltan, Press club, Gulistan, Mohakhali, Rampura, Malibagh, Badda, Farmgate, Jatrabari and Sadarghat area.

Besides, Law enforcers have kept cordoned off BNP’s Nayapaltan central office in the capital.

Shahbagh Thana Officer-in-Charge Sirazul Islam told banglanews, “Police forces were deployed at every important spots of the area.”

Rampura Thana Officer-in-Charge Kripasindhu Bala told banglanews, “The numbers of police patrol van have been increased to ensure security on Rampura-Malibagh roads.

Badda Thana Officer-in-Charge MA Jalil said, “Additional police forces were deployed at various important places under the jurisdiction of the thana.”

On the other hand, though the movement of long route vehicles remained stopped but public transports including bus, Leguna, and CNG-run auto-rickshaws were seen plying throughout the city streets as usual.
