DHAKA: The Election Commission (EC) published the gazette notification on Wednesday noon, declaring the official results of the 10th parliamentary elections held on January 5.
EC sources said names of some 290 successful candidates out of 300 constituencies in the country were published in the notification excluding the names of the winners of Jessore-1, 2 constituencies.
Commission issued show cause notice to the winners of Jessore-1, 2 constituencies asking them “why the results should not be cancelled” for violating electoral code conduct.
However, EC also postponed polls in eight constituencies for election-day violence.
As per the constitution, EC is bound to publish the results within three days of the elections and the new government must arrange Jatiya Sangshad session within 30 days.
