Five get life term in Manikganj in trader murder case

A Manikganj court today (March 18) sentenced five people to life term imprisonment for killing a trader in 2015.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Court Judge Sabina Yasmin passed the verdict today

The court also fined the convicts Tk 20,000 each, in default, have to serve six more months in jail.

The convicts are –Sohag, Habia Begam, of Dakkhin Char Mokimpur village of Manikganj Sadar upazila, Shahinur, Nadhan, Alamgir of Matta Dhakuapara village. The court also acquitted three youths Khalil, Ali Akbar and Tutul. 

According to case statement, on August 3, 2015, Sohag called the victim trader Majom Ali to come out of his house to talk.

Later, Sohag along with other convicts hacked Majom to death. The next morning wife of the victim Jeleka Begum as plaintiff filed a case against eight people.

On June 29, 2016 officer-in-charge of Manikganj Sadar Police Station Aminur Rahman submitted a charge sheet against the accused.
