400 Bangladeshis reach Saudi with one fingerprint for Umrah: Saudi

Some 400 Bangladeshis entered Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah with the fingerprint of one Hajj pilgrim, alleged Saudi authority.

Saudi Arab embassy in Dhaka made the allegation through a letter sent to Bangladesh Foreign Ministry’s West Asia Wing.

According to the letter, the Saudi Hajj authority noticed that most of the Bangladeshis who intend to perform Umrah have not provided their fingerprints during online registration.

“Recently a team of 400 people visited Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah with one person’s fingerprint and that is a violation of rules and regulations,” read the letter.

Therefore, the relevant authorities should comply with the regulations of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah of Saudi Arabia, prevent irregularities and make it compulsory for pilgrims to use their own fingerprints for Umrah registration, the letter also suggested.

Besides, the Saudi Embassy has requested to convey the message to the concerned to take necessary steps to prevent all kinds of violations of the rules of Hajj and Umrah.

A copy of the letter has also been sent to the Ministry of Religion, the Prime Minister's Office and the Hajj Agencies Association of Bangladesh (HAB).
