60 Malaysia-bound rescued, held 4

CHITTAGONG: Police rescued 60 Malaysia-bound people from Bahaddarhat bus terminal under Chandgoan thana of the port city early Saturday.

Sources said that acting on tip off police conducted a drive at the bus terminal at around 1:30am and nabbed four brokers and rescued 60 people while they attempted to go to Cox’s Bazar by two buses.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of metropolitan police (north) Shahidullah told banglanews, “The gang of brokers planned to send Malaysia illegally and risky way sea routes through Kutubdia or other points of the district.”

Panchlaish Zone Assistant Commissioner Shah Abdur Rauf told banglanews, “The people thronged there from various districts including Jhenaidah, Sirajganj, Pabna. And later, acting on a tip off police held them.”
