Trial of minority attackers a must

JESSORE: The spokesperson of Gonojagoron Moncho Dr Imran H Sarker on Saturday demanded the attackers on minority communities at Malopara must be brought under trial.

He also condemned and expressed his condolence to the victims of the attack by poll-resisters after voting end in the 10th parliamentary elections.

He came up with the assertion while addressing a public rally at Malopara of the district at 11:30am.

Everyone should be treated equally in the country, he added.

However, the district convener of Gonojagoron Moncho, Advocate Abdus Shahid Lal presided over the rally.

However some 500 Gonojagoron Moncho activists carried out a Road March demanding exemplary punishment for the perpetrators of the attacks on minority communities and formulation of new law to ensure punishment of culprits involved in communal violence.

The Moncho activists started the road march from city’s Shahbagh to Malopara of Jessore on Friday morning.

Later, the marchers held roadside rallies at dairy gate of Jahangirnagar University, in Manikganj, at Goalanda bus stand and Janata Bank intersection in Faridpur, at Madhukhali and in Magura.

Later, the marchers are set to hold rally at Chitra Intersection in the district at 3:00pm.

Several houses of minority communities at Malopara in Avoynagar were vandalized allegedly by Jamaat-Shibir men on January 5 hours after ending the voting in the 10th national election.
