Amid the unprecedented heatwave, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) launched an initiative to distribute drinking water, offering some respite to the city dwellers.
This humanitarian initiative has been taken after an instruction by the DMP commissioner Habibur Rahman.
The day-long program has started on Saturday (April 20) from the capital's Dhanmondi, Uttarkhan, Demra, police stations area which the police said will continue.
Dhanmondi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Parvez Islam said, “Safe water distribution program is initiated on the instructions of the DMP Commissioner. As long as the heatwave lasts, our activities will continue.”
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Uttarkhan Police Station Abu Saeed Al Mamun said that water and saline are being distributed to the people who are suffering in summer. Common people are benefiting from it.
Earlier on April 19, the DMP Commissioner distributed umbrellas, cold water, saline and other items to the traffic policemen stationed under DMP.
