The government today (April 21) decided to procure 5 lakh tonnes of paddy, 11 lakh tonnes of boiled rice, 1 lakh tonnes of atap rice, and 50,000 tonnes of wheat in the upcoming Boro season.

The procurement price of Boro paddy has been fixed at Tk32 per kg, boiled rice at Tk45, atap rice at Tk44 a kg, and wheat at Tk34 per kg.

The prices were fixed at a meeting of the Food Planning and Monitoring Committee at the secretariat. Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder presided over the meeting.

In 2023, the government procured Boro paddy at Tk30 per kg, boiled rice at Tk44, and wheat at Tk35 per kg.
