A joint team of the National Security Intelligence (NSI) and Customs officials seized over one kilogram of gold in paste form from three passengers at Chattogram Shah Amanat International Airport on Monday.
The passengers, identified as Mobarak Ali from Chakaria upazila of Cox's Bazar, Mohammad Nazmul Hoque from Satkania upazila, and Mohammad Anwar Shah from Sandwip upazila of Chattogram district, arrived on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight from Dubai at around 6:45am.
On suspicion, NSI and customs officials searched their luggage and found one kilogram of gold paste adhered to clothes and concealed within blankets among their belongings, said Airport Director Group Captain Taslim Ahmed.
Legal action in this connection is underway, he added.
