Two construction workers were killed and 11 others injured after a truck collided with a pickup van at Ansar Road in Sreepur upazila of Gazipur district early Saturday (May 4).

The deceased were identified as Russel Mia, 25, and his brother-in-law Abu Sufian, 25. Both hailed from Sunamganj district.

Belal Ahmed, station officer of Sreepur Fire Service confirmed the matter.

He said the accident occurred around 4:30 am when the dump truck hit the Mawna-bound pick-up van carrying construction workers, leaving Russel dead on the spot and 12 others injured. 

The injured were taken to the Sreepur Upazila Health Complex where the doctors declared Sufian dead.

Md Kuddus, sub-inspector of Sreepur Police Station, said they seized the truck apart from taking legal steps in this regard.
