A father and his son were killed and two others injured when an autorickshaw was rammed by a pickup van in Hajiganj of Chandpur. 

The accident happened around 1.30pm on the Chandpur-Cumilla regional highway at Gogra area under Bakila union of the upazila.

The deceased were identified as Abu Taher Molla, 55, and his son Mamun Hossain Molla, 25, both residents of Poyaljosh village under the upazila. 

The injured are Keramat Ali, 58, Shah Alam, 40 and Monir Hossain, 30 of Kashimpur village in the same upazila.

According to eyewitness, a Chandpur-bound pickup van rammed CNG run autorickshaw from opposite direction carrying five passengers, leaving the father and his son dead on the spot.

Locals rescued the injured and took them to Chandpur General Hospital where they are undergoing treatment.

Hajiganj Police Station officer-in-charge Md Abdur Rashid confirmed the matter.

He said on information, they have seized the both vehicles from the spot, adding that no one has made arrested as the driver and helper of truck managed to escape from the spot. 

Police have recovered the bodies from the spot and Hajiganj Upazila Health Complex. The bodies will be handed over to the family after taking legal actions, added the OC.
