Pilot Squadron Leader Asim Jawad, who lost his life after a training aircraft of the Bangladesh Air Force (YAK130) crashed, has been laid in peace at Seota Graveyard in Manikganj city.
On Friday (May 10) at 3 pm, Jawad, was awarded the 'Sword of Honour', and later buried with a 'Guard of Honour'.
At the time of burial, Jawad father Dr. Amanullah along with his relatives and thousands of people including air force officers were present.
Ealrier, Jawad succumbed to his injuries Banouja Isa Khan Hospital in Patenga around 12:30 pm after a training aircraft of the Bangladesh Air Force (YAK130) crashed into the Karnaphuli River at Chattogram’s Patenga on Thursday (May 9).
Wing Commander Suhan, the other injured, is being treated by the Air Force’s Zahurul Haque Base’s medical squadron for his injuries.
Chattogram Shah Amanat International Airport Director Group Captain Taslim Uddin said that the fighter took off from the airport and crashed in the air at 10:28am then fell into the river Karnaphuli.
The two pilots of the aircraft, however, ejected with the parachute. But one of them is in critical condition, Taslim said earlier.
