Road Safety Foundation in a report said last April, the country saw 672 road accidents in which 679 people died and 934 were injured.
Of the total fatalities, 93 were women and 108 children.
In the published report this private organization on Sunday (May 12) said these road accidents have caused a loss of human resources of Tk 2,119 crores.
A total of 259 people died in 316 motorcycle accidents (47%), which is 38.14 percent of total deaths, according to report.
Some 113 pedestrians were killed while 96 drivers and their assistants were killed during this period.
During this period as many as 9 people were killed and 68 injured in seven naval accidents while 45 people were killed and 24 injured in 38 rail accidents.
The Road Safety Foundation compiled the report based on data from nine national dailies, seven online news portals, various electronic media and its own data.
Time analysis of the report shows that 5.35 percent of accidents occurred in the early morning, 24.85 percent in the morning, 20.53 percent in the afternoon, 15 percent in the mid-afternoon, 10.26 percent in the evening and 23.95 percent in the night.
