At least 30 students of a primary school fell ill due to intense heat in Hossainpur upazila of Kishoreganj on Thursday (May 16) afternoon.

The incident occurred at Hossainpur Model Government Primary School of the upazila.

Rebeka Sultana, the head teacher of the school in this regard said, “A few students of a class fell sick due to sudden intense heat. Later, there was same situation in other classes too. After that, few parents took their children at home and we declared day off at the school.”

Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Anindya Mondal said, “The heat is a bit high. I visited the school and saw that some students were sick.”

When asked if school holidays will be announced, he said that the matter will be discussed.
