The main arms supplier of Jamaat-ul-Ansar Phil Hindal Sharqiya, was arrested by the Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of the police on Friday (May 17).
The arrestee was identified as Abdur Rahim, 32.
DMP Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) Unit Chief and Additional Commissioner (CTTC) Asaduzzaman confirmed the matter in a press conference organized at DMP Media Center on Minto Road in the capital.
Earlier on Wednesday (May 15) based on intelligence information, Abdur was arrested in a raid in Kaliakair police station area of Gazipur district. Later, according to the information given by him, CTTC seized a large quantity of arms and explosives.
One 7.65 foreign pistol, four country-made guns, three country-made ammunition loaded guns, one country-made shooter gun, one country-made sharp weapon, 16 bullets, 11 cartridges, 24 shotgun shells, two binoculars, one gas mask, charger Light one, rechargeable battery one, walkie talkie and charger two, acid-like liquid 6 liters, electric cable 60 feet, mobile signal booster one, antenna with cable one, hammer one, saw one, hex blade one, bulbs four, electric holder four, Two blue plastic drums and one tripala, were recovered during the drive.
Asaduzzaman said, he will be interrogated regarding any network outside country.
