A Dhaka court sent TikToker Abdullah Al Mamun alias Prince Mamun to jail in a rape case today (June 11).
Judge Md Mamunur Rashid of Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's (CMM) Court issued the order after rejecting the 7-day remand plea of police.
Earlier on Monday (June 10), Daudkandi police of Cumilla arrested Mamun from Daudkandi toll plaza on Dhaka-Chattogram highway after Laila Akhter Farhad, 48, registered a rape case against him with the capital’s Cantonment Police Station on Sunday (June 9).
Later, the Cantonment police appeared Mamun before the CMM court and applied for remand.
According to Laila, “I met the defendant Abdullah Al Mamun aka Prince Mamun through Facebook three years ago. At one stage of our acquaintance, Mamun established a love relationship with me by tempting me to marry me.”
“Later, Mamun told me that he does not have place to stay in Dhaka. As the love affair developed Mamun told me that he would marry me, following his commitment, I believed him and allowed him to stay in my house,” said the plaintiff.
“On January 7, 2022, Mamun along with his mother started living at my house. From that day Mamun started sharing the same room with me in my house. He several times had sexual intercourse promising of marriage,” Laila added in her case statement.
“When I told Mamun of marriage several times, he kept delaying on various excuses.”
On March 14 this year, Mamun raped me again. Later, when I repeated of marriage, Mamun became violent and verbally abused me with indecent words,” reads the case statement.
