Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today expressed profound shock at the passing of renowned folk singer Farida Parveen, widely revered as the “Queen of Lalon Geeti.”
In a condolence message, the Chief Adviser said that although Parveen had also performed Nazrul Sangeet, patriotic songs, and other genres, she remained best known for her timeless renditions of Lalon Shah’s songs.
“For five decades, her voice carried the eternal melodies of Lalon to people’s hearts, elevating the underlying philosophy of our culture and the meaning of life to new heights,” Yunus said.
He added that despite numerous adversities, Parveen never abandoned her passion for music, which went on to inspire generations.
Remembering the Ekushey Padak-winning singer’s contributions, Yunus said her legacy would remain ever memorable and continue to nurture fresh thoughts and creativity in Bangladesh’s cultural sphere.
The Chief Adviser prayed for the eternal peace of her departed soul and conveyed his heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family.
Farida Parveen breathed her last at a city hospital tonight at the age of 71.
