Police arrested former Additional Inspector General of Police (IGP) Shamsuddoha in a cheque fraud case on Sunday (September 7).

He was detained from his resort, Wonderland Green Park, in Nawabganj, Dhaka.

Confirming the matter, Nawabganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mominul Islam said Shamsuddoha was produced before the court following his arrest.

Earlier, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed a charge sheet against Shamsuddoha and his wife, Ferdousi Sultana, in a case over amassing illegal wealth.

According to the charge sheet, the couple is accused of concealing information and unlawfully acquiring assets worth Tk 66.48 crore, ACC sources confirmed.

The charge sheet was submitted in July last year by case investigation officer Khorshed Alam, Assistant Director of the ACC, to the court of Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Mohammad Asamach Jaglul Hossain.
