Almost 6.23% of the patients suffering from snake bites have succumbed to their injuries since February, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said at a press conference on Wednesday (July 10).
During 1 February-9 July, 610 snake bite incidents were recorded across the country, and Rajshahi division accounted for 68.2% of the total with 416 patients.
Almost, 38 patients died from snake bites across the country during the period. Of the total fatalities, 11 occurred in Rajshahi division, including five from the venom of Russel's Viper.
In Rajshahi division, almost 70% of the patients have returned home after recovering from their ailments at hospitals.
Former Director General of DGHS Prof MA Faiz, Director of Non-Communicable Disease Unit Prof Robed Amin, and Director of Disease Control Unit Dr. Sheikh Daud Adnan attended the event among others.
