Former United States ambassador to Bangladesh, Peter Haas, held a meeting with Foreign Secretary Asad Alam Siam at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka on Thursday (4 September), according to official sources. 

The meeting began shortly before 9 am, but neither side disclosed details of their discussions.

Haas, who served as US ambassador in Dhaka from March 2022 to April 2024, arrived in Bangladesh earlier this week. 

On Wednesday, he travelled to Cox’s Bazar and Maheshkhali, where he attended several programmes.

Since retiring from diplomatic service last year, Haas has been working as a strategic adviser for the US-based energy firm Excelerate Energy, a role that frequently brings him back to Bangladesh.
