Prof Yunus joins 'Voice of the Global South Summit'

Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus participated virtually in the third 'Voice of the Global South Summit,' which is being hosted by India.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had previously invited Prof Yunus to attend this summit.

This marks Prof Yunus's first international engagement since assuming his role as head of the interim government.

The inaugural session, hosted by Prime Minister Modi, is themed "An Empowered Global South for a Sustainable Future," aligning with the overall theme of the Summit.

This initiative is an extension of Prime Minister Modi's vision of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas aur Sabka Prayas,' rooted in India's philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, according to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs.

The Summit aims to unite countries from the Global South to discuss shared perspectives and priorities.

India had previously hosted the first and second Voice of Global South Summits on January 12-13, 2023, and November 17, 2023, respectively, both in a virtual format, with participation from over 100 countries.
