Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin held a meeting on Monday with Ambassador Tracey Ann Jacobson, chargé d'Affaires at the US Embassy in Dhaka, at the Election Commission headquarters in Dhaka.

The meeting began shortly after 2:15 pm at the CEC's office in the Election Bhaban. 

In anticipation of the visit, security was visibly heightened at the premises from early afternoon. Additional barricades were set up outside the main entrance, and security checks were intensified.

Election Commission Secretary Akhtar Ahmed personally received the US envoy at the ground-floor entrance. He, along with a team of officials, escorted the American delegation to the CEC's office upstairs for the discussions.

This marks the first meeting between the US Embassy and the Election Commission since the political developments that unfolded on August 5 last year.
