Police have arrested former Minister of Textiles and Jute Golam Dastagir Gazi.

The law enforcement officers detained Gazi, also the Chairman of Gazi Group, on Saturday night (24 August) from a house in Shantinagar in Dhaka.

However, it is still unclear under which case he was arrested.

Confirming the arrest, Paltan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Molla Md. Khalid Hossain said that the former jute minister was arrested from a house in Shantinagar.

Gazi had been hiding at his in-law's house to avoid arrest. A team from the Detective Branch (DB) police arrested him from there.
