Textile and Jute Adviser Brigadier General (retd) M Sakhawat Hossain urged Pakistan to enhance investment, communication, and cooperation in strengthening the bilateral relationship with Bangladesh.
He also requested Pakistani investors to explore opportunities in Bangladesh by investing in the country’s state-owned textile and jute mills which are currently closed.
Sakhawat Hossain made the plea during a meeting with Pakistan High Commissioner Syed Ahmed Maroof in the capital Dhaka.
The Pakistan high commissioner expressed his interest when Sakhawat Hossain requested Pakistani investors to invest in jute and textile and other related sectors in Bangladesh.
After that, Pakistan's High Commissioner Syed Ahmed Maroof placed a proposal to start a direct sea transport system between Pakistan and Bangladesh.
In response to this, M Sakhawat, advisor to the Ministry of Shipping, said that he will work with the relevant officials of the ministry directly on the issue of shipping.
Investment, communication and friendship should be increased to strengthen the relationship between the two countries, said Sakhawat.
