Six killed in Cox's Bazar landslide

Six people from two families, including a woman and her two children, died in separate landslides triggered by heavy rainfall in Cox's Bazar early on Friday (September 13).

A landslide in the Dikkul area under Jhilongjha union in Cox's Bazar Sadar upazila happened around 2am.

Additional District Magistrate Atul Goni Osman confirmed the matter.

The deceased were identified as Akhi Moni, wife of Mizanur Rahman from South Dikakul, and their two daughters, Miha Jannat Naima and Latifa Islam.

Another landslide at the Ukhiya Rohingya camp happened in Hakimpur camp-14 at 4:00am.

Shamsud Doza Nayan, Additional Commissioner of the Cox's Bazar Relief and Rehabilitation Commission Office, confirmed the matter.

The deceased were Abdul Rahim, son of Kabir Ahmed from E-2 Block of Rohingya Camp 14, Abdul Hafiz, and Abdul Wahed.

Ataul Gani Osmani, Additional District Magistrate of Cox's Bazar, said a total of six people have died due to landslides in the district. Among them, three are Bangladeshis and three are Rohingyas.
